Carbon dioxide extraction is gentler than cold pressing, preserving delicate plant compounds and resulting in a highly pure active ingredient. The oil contains gamma-linolenic acid and omega-3 fatty acids in optimal ratio, making it one of rare plant oils with optimal physiological balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
