Tremella fuciformis, commonly called the snow mushroom, is a pearly, coral-shaped fungal ingredient celebrated in Traditional Chinese Medicine for preserving moisture, vitality, and beauty. This ingredient contains high levels of tremella polysaccharides, particularly glucuronoxylomannans (GXM), which are bioactive molecules renowned for their exceptional water-binding and moisture-retaining capacity. The polysaccharides form a transparent, moisture-locking film on skin, preventing water loss while leaving it plump, soft, and vibrant. Clinical studies demonstrate that just 0.1% tremella extract increased skin hydration by 64% after 3 hours and 47% after 6 hours, while reducing transepidermal water loss by 12.4% after 5 hours. Unlike hyaluronic acid, tremella's unique molecular structure allows it to continuously attract and bind moisture, offering superior, longer-lasting hydration.
