Dry brushing is an ideal routine for puffiness, signs of fatigue, ageing skin and skin in need of vitality.
Dry brushing should not be performed on damaged or inflamed skin. If the skin has blemishes, dry brushing can be performed below the affected areas, but not directly over them. Dry brushing should not be performed on extremely sensitive and redness-prone skin with a compromised skin barrier.
Dry brushing supports lymphatic flow and the removal of excess interstitial fluid. The results are visible as reduced puffiness and felt as a lighter, more refreshed feeling. At the same time, brushing makes the skin smoother and more radiant.
A reduction in puffiness and a lighter feeling may be noticeable after the very first dry brushing session. The skin also feels immediately smoother. However, many everyday factors affect puffiness, so regular dry brushing helps maintain the results and support lymphatic flow over the long term.
For the best results and to maintain them, it is worth practising dry brushing regularly. We recommend following the routine 1–3 times a week. For example, you can begin with the routine three times a week and, after one month, move to once a week to maintain the results.
Djusie’s dry brushing ritual is designed to support lymphatic flow and promote the removal of excess interstitial fluid. For this reason, the ritual begins by manually treating areas where there are many lymph nodes. Gentle stretching of the skin stimulates the superficial lymphatic vessels and promotes the onward movement of lymph from the lymph node areas. This supports fluid flow throughout the lymphatic vessel network and prepares the pathway before interstitial fluid is guided towards the lymph nodes through brushing. It is like making sure the route ahead is flowing before directing more traffic onto it.
Djusie’s dry brushing ritual is designed to support lymphatic flow and promote the removal of excess interstitial fluid. A warm shower dilates the superficial blood vessels and increases the filtration of fluid from the capillaries into the tissues. If you shower immediately after dry brushing, this may partially counteract the immediate de-puffing effect of the brushing. For this reason, we recommend showering or going to the sauna first and dry brushing only afterwards.
