Lactic acid is one of the AHAs or alpha-hydroxy acids. In cosmetics, lactic acid is used to regulate the product’s pH and as a humectant and exfoliating agent. It hydrates and brightens the skin, strengthens the skin’s protective barrier and boosts the skin’s ceramide production. Lactic acid also occurs naturally in the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), which is created during the keratinization process as a result of the breakdown of filaggrin.

Djusie’s Peace Out Reviving Essence contains a very low concentration of lactic acid, the purpose of which is to adjust the pH of the product. The concentration is so small that it has no skin care effects.
